English Speaking Competition
In 5th grade, I went on a class trip to Capadoccia. After the class trip, there was a speaking competition in which someone from all classed spoke about their experiences. At first, I thought I wouldn't get chosen, so I just wrote about it because I liked writing. Then, after I was chosen for the competition, I started to seriously prepare for it. I presented in multiple settings in front of different people to get criticism on what might go better. It was my first time speaking in front of such a huge crowd, so I was nervous. Through that competition, I learned to get criticism and select between which might be helpful and which isn't. The biggest improvement it had on me was definitely being able to experience speaking before a huge crowd, which I'm still working on improving since it isn't one of my strongest points. Despite it being nerve-wracking, I ended up winning first place. It made me believe in my ability to speak in a language I had just started learning that year and also boosted my confidence for future public speaking events.
